At the core of DesertSci is our collaborative nature. We work with you to customise our products to suit your specific needs. We believe in working closely with our clients, often on a one to one basis, to realise a shared goal – improved drug discovery tools. Many companies cite their collaborative nature but at DesertSci we believe it is more than a meeting of common goals, it is a deep, collective determination to reach an identical objective – usable, scalable, robust, accurate, fast, effective and innovative enterprise based informatics systems.
Science Based
DesertSci was created to develop scientific software. Although we are a commercial organisation, our focus is on improving the understanding of protein-ligand binding and creating tools that enhance the potential of modern drug discovery. We stay small and lean so that we can reinvest our profits into software and methods development, not on developing a large sales force. We believe if the software is good enough, it will sell itself. Our client list is a reflection of this.
Innovative

Innovation is at the heart of what we do - our motto “something different” says it all. We are interested in true innovation - substantial change not incremental differences. In 2001, we were the first to develop a specifically medicinal chemistry ‘project’ based database and visualisation system, Proasis2. We have gone further and developed Proasis3, using the latest Google web tool kit technology to create a browser application that works like a desktop application so that you can leverage the growing power of the client machine. ViewContacts, our industry leading software for improved understanding of non-covalent interactions in protein-ligand complexes gives new insights into protein-ligand binding. Spinfiex, our advanced chemical similarity software developed using Maximum Overlapping Set (MOS) approach rather than the Maximum Common Substructure (MCS) technique favoured by many of our competitors, is considered the superior choice by many for automated clustering methods. Finally we have Scorpion, our truly ground-breaking software based on a cooperative network view of protein ligand binding. This innovative view of tight ligand binding will lead to powerful new insights into molecular recognition and potentially to changes in drug discovery methods.
