Desert Scientific Software (DesertSci) aims to provide software solutions for medicines research in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors. The company focus is structure based drug design, in particular, developing new methods for accurately predicting protein-ligand binding affinities.
One of our major goals is to web-enable computational chemistry and chemical informatics. More specifically, we aim to facilitate information sharing and to allow scientists to access complex technologies at the click of a button. Drawing on over ten years of industry experience DesertSci is able to provide the tools that enable all scientists working in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors to make maximum use of the fantastic wealth of information and computational resources that are currently available.
DesertSci's software, through skillful design, creates ease of use by hiding complex computational methods behind an inviting web-based interface. As a result, an organisation can: optimize the efficiency of individual scientists along the discovery pipeline; facilitate the sharing of expertise within a research group; and improve the dissemination of computational and information resources.
Desert Scientific Software was founded by Neil.R.Taylor, Ph.D. in June 2000, and is based in Sydney, Australia. Dr Taylor has a PhD from The University of Western Australia and has over ten years experience in industry, in the USA, Switzerland, UK, and Sweden, as a professional computational chemist and programmer in drug discovery.
